Welcome to The Gathering Cup

Welcome to The Gathering Cup

Where good conversations begin.

There's something special about gathering around a table with a good cup of coffee or tea. Conversations flow a little easier, stories get shared, and sometimes you walk away with a new idea, a different perspective, or simply a smile.

That's the feeling we hope to create here.

Welcome to The Gathering Cup, a place where we can come together to talk about good food, movement, travel, everyday wellness, and the experiences that make life worth savoring.

We're the husband-and-wife team behind SolSteep Coffee & Tea. We share a love for exploring new places, discovering great coffee and tea, and finding ways to live a fulfilling, balanced life.

While coffee and tea brought us here, there's much more to who we are and what we hope to share.

So grab your favorite cup, pull up a chair, and let us introduce ourselves.

A Little About Us

Our backgrounds have given us different perspectives on health, wellness, and the everyday choices that shape our lives.

My husband is a personal trainer and certified nutritionist. Fitness has long been a big part of his life, and you'll often find him at the gym working on strength, endurance, flexibility, and mobility. He enjoys learning about how the body moves, experimenting with different training approaches, and finding ways to challenge himself.

For him, the gym isn't simply about exercise. It's something he genuinely enjoys and an important part of his daily routine.

I'm a massage therapist and herbalist, with an interest in the relationship between the body, movement, plants, and everyday well-being. I enjoy exploring the many ways herbs and spices can be incorporated into cooking, discovering traditional practices, and appreciating how small choices can influence our daily experiences.

Together, we share an appreciation for whole foods, regular movement, spending time outdoors, and choosing quality over quantity.

But that doesn't mean our days are perfectly structured or that we always make the same choices.

We enjoy good food, occasional indulgences, relaxing afternoons, and discovering new experiences just as much as we appreciate our routines.

For us, holistic living isn't about following a strict set of rules. It's about recognizing that different parts of our lives are connected and finding ways to care for ourselves while still enjoying the journey.

Movement Is Part of Our Everyday Life

One of the things you'll see us talk about regularly is movement.

For my husband, that often means time at the gym, strength training, stretching, and working on mobility. Fitness is something he's passionate about, and we're excited to give him a space to share that side of his life.

He'll be sharing some of his own workouts, favorite stretches, training experiences, and the things he's learned over the years.

Not because everyone needs to follow his routine, but because sharing our experiences can open the door to interesting conversations and new ideas.

Movement looks different for everyone.

Some people love lifting weights. Others prefer walking, swimming, cycling, yoga, gardening, or simply finding more opportunities to be active throughout the day.

We believe there's room for all of it.

The goal isn't to convince anyone that our approach is the right one. It's to share what we enjoy, what we've learned, and what works for us while encouraging others to explore what works for them.

Good Food, Simple Ingredients, and a Little Curiosity

Food is another big part of our everyday lives.

We enjoy meals made with whole foods, experimenting with different ingredients, and finding ways to bring more flavor and variety into the kitchen.

With our backgrounds in nutrition and herbalism, we each bring different interests to the table.

Sometimes that might mean exploring the nutritional qualities of familiar ingredients. Other times, it might mean discovering how a particular herb or spice can completely change the flavor of a dish.

We love the idea that eating well doesn't have to mean eating the same things every day or giving up the foods we enjoy.

Food is nourishment, but it's also culture, tradition, creativity, and connection.

And we believe all of those things deserve a place in the conversation.

Inspired by the Places We've Been

Our love of travel has shaped the way we see the world and played a big part in the creation of SolSteep Coffee & Tea.

In Costa Rica, we visited a coffee and cacao farm where we roasted and ground our own beans before enjoying coffee prepared in the traditional Costa Rican style.

In Italy, we experienced how espresso is woven into the rhythm of everyday life. In Greece, we discovered the pleasure of sitting down with a cup of coffee and simply enjoying the moment.

Everywhere we've traveled, we've found something worth appreciating, whether it's a new flavor, a different tradition, or a conversation with someone whose daily life looks completely different from our own.

Those experiences have encouraged us to stay curious and recognize that there's always more to discover.

They've also reminded us that living well isn't only about what we eat or how we exercise.

It's about the experiences we create, the relationships we build, and the moments we take time to enjoy.

Why We Created The Gathering Cup

SolSteep began with our love for coffee and tea, but The Gathering Cup gives us an opportunity to share more of the things that matter to us.

We wanted to create a welcoming space where conversations about everyday living could happen naturally.

A place where we can share a workout, talk about a new recipe, explore the traditions behind an ingredient, or tell a story from our travels.

A place where different experiences and perspectives are welcome.

Our professional backgrounds have given us knowledge and experiences that influence the way we live, but we're not here to prescribe a particular lifestyle or tell anyone what choices they should make.

We recognize that everyone has different interests, abilities, circumstances, and goals.

What works for us may not work for someone else, and that's perfectly fine.

We're here to share our experiences, encourage curiosity, and open conversations about the many ways people can make thoughtful choices in different areas of their lives.

Our content is meant to inspire discussion and share general information, not replace individualized medical, nutritional, or fitness guidance.

What You'll Find Around Our Table

As The Gathering Cup grows, we'll be exploring a variety of topics that reflect our interests and everyday lives.

Movement & Fitness: A look into our gym routines, strength training, stretching, mobility, and the different ways we enjoy staying active.

Food & Flavor: Recipes, whole-food ingredients, herbs, spices, and creative ways to make everyday meals more interesting.

Coffee & Tea: Brewing methods, flavor discoveries, origins, traditions, and the stories behind our favorite cups.

Travel & Culture: Experiences from the places we've visited, the people we've met, and the traditions that have inspired us.

Everyday Living: Conversations about balance, personal routines, time outdoors, meaningful experiences, and finding joy in the little things.

Some posts will be practical. Others will be personal. And sometimes, we'll simply share something interesting that we think is worth talking about.

We hope you'll feel comfortable bringing your own experiences and perspectives into those conversations.

There's Always Room for One More

We don't have all the answers, and we don't pretend to.

We're two people who enjoy learning, exploring, and sharing the things that make our lives more fulfilling.

We believe that living well can look different for everyone and that some of the best ideas come from being willing to listen to one another.

Whether you're passionate about fitness, enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, love discovering new places, or simply appreciate a good cup of coffee and a meaningful conversation, there's a place for you here.

We're excited to share this part of our lives with you, and we're equally excited to hear about yours.

So pour yourself something you love, pull up a chair, and join the conversation.

There's always room for one more at our table.

Let's start the conversation: What's something you enjoy doing that helps you feel your best? Maybe it's a favorite workout, a walk outside, cooking a good meal, or simply taking a little time for yourself. We'd love to hear what that looks like in your life.
